Total Information Blackout: Iranian Police Destroying Satellite Dishes in Tehran

The Iranian regime apparently has something it feels it must hide. The police are going building to building smashing sattelite dishes. Is it possible the Mullahs worry that the people will find out that they are provoking their own destruction? (HT: Judith Apter Klinghoffer).

Police in Tehran have begun dismantling satellite dishes from the city's rooftops - part of a campaign to prevent Iranians from watching Western television. The move follows a recent police order that all satellite dishes - officially banned but tolerated until now - be removed. The campaign against satellite television was launched by the Minister for Culture and Islamic Orientation [a pitiful euphemism for Minister of Mind Control if ever there was one], Hassan Saffar Harandi, who said "we have to halt the West's cultural offensive," on Iran.

Some observers believe that the clampdown is aimed at keeping the government's control over news regarding Iran's dispute with the international community regarding its nuclear program.

In recent months, all news coverage on the issue in Iran has been done with the approval of the Supreme Council of National Security, prompting people who wish to be informed by non-government sources to watch and listen to television and radio from abroad.

Commenting on your article of destructuction of satelite dishes in Iran i think this a very positive move as what the western media brings us mostly concerning DRUGS VIOLENCE AND SEX we can just see the stastics of this countries in RAPE THUGERY and other vices is the highest infact scientists and doctors have found out the TV does affect the functioning of the brain due to its radio waves , the main reason why the western wants us to look at their media is 1) Western culture should be norm of the day in all parts of the world and all other cultures useless (I Think this is more autocraticle disguised in sweet flavoured democracy pill example banning of head scarfs in france Agreeing with the westerners with the continous dominance of middle east and the list goes on and on).

The Iran action is correct. The dish antena encourage a society of sex hungry people. Moreover the jewish community dominate press and media. In order to save people from poisioning their ears, the removing of dish antenna in all islamic countries is advised. For international news other media are sufficient to meet the requirement of masses.

I am a Lebanese who has lived in Australia for 29 years and have seen the problems facing our fellow arabs. One of the most problamatic issues is this so could dish.Why? You should ask yourself why, when you see the channels and the so called crap that manipulates the people let alone the media coverage of anti this anti that and "its all a lode of bull". How can human beings (Islamic) be so backward in their beliefs. How can it bring joy to anyone to take lives so easily and without any regrets. We have all watched as this so called army of murdering criminals go about their business. We see the video clips of their pitiful excuse of "leaders" who themselves stay in safe hiding places and send out a young and underage army to die for a cause that no one understands. Mostafa: good for you! You have showed us how TV can become an influence on those who CHOOSE to allow it to corrupt the mind. This is not want it is all about. It is about having access to the rest of the world and becoming wise enough on our "own" to not ACCEPT the things that we ( all of us as people) consider immoral. However keep in mind that this does not change one of the worst immoral acts of all and that is the one that takes away the freedom of any of us to make the choice to view the rest of the world. If we find what they are doing offensive-- it is not up to us to "kill them" or take away their rights. It is up to us to turn off the offensive information that is being fed to us and protest it by not viewing it. We have had the TV in our home since I was a child of 9 years old. I have never chosen to watch anything offensive, it is not my choice. TV does not corrupt -- it is the viewers choices of what he watch's on TV that could corrupt. However, there is no corruption worse than the ones the cowardly Islamic groups have "chosen" to broadcast as they destroy lives. This is by far the worst corruption of all.

I want to advise or remind all of our fellow human beings of every country, faith and religion, that there are millions upon millions of us Americans of every religious denomination that also despise and detest all forms of pornography, sexual perversions, illegal drugs, murder and all the wickedness and criminalities committed not only in our own country but all over the world by sick, depraved, wicked and evil people against innocent, kind and decent peoples everywhere. Television is indeed one of the major contributors, as well as filthy magazines, literature and other commonly available distributors of wicked and perverted propaganda. However, it is indeed up to each of us as individuals to control that which decieves and poisons our minds with filth and lies. I personally have blocked all channels on our televison that I find despicable, filthy and go against any of my own religious or other blessed beliefs. I also do not allow any kind of perverted or pornographic materals of any kind into my household or on my property. Millions of other Americans do the same thing. If something does pop up on one of my approved channels, it is very easy to just cut it off immediately. So instead of pointing the finger at the corrupt producers of all these products, we take our own God given rights to control what we do and do not want to have in our lives, homes or schools, etc. More people should do this, and avoid the evil addictions that come with all the perversions mankind is capable of, and teach our children rightly also, and not depend on anyone else to do it for us. (Putting aside WMD that has already been discussed in this forum). Your country was in need, your people were being brutalized by bullies. Torture is/was the order of the day. Killing of innocents was/is order of the day. The people needed/need help. Put your thinking cap on man, can't you see that the countries that are in the middle east now are trying to save you/future generations from all the atrocities that have been going on (forever.) There is a better way of life. America and any free country( there) is fighting for "your" rights to be free. However when they are "found out " to be the scandals they are, They are brought before the people and are prosecuted and put in jail. They do not seize control and rule. America will not allow that to happen.
If you are in America now, or some other free country -- why are you here/there? To offer your criticism of our rights to keep our country free? One way we stay a free country is by stopping the fire of terrorism. That is another reason we are at war.
